CHAIR NOTES
A RESOURCE FOR WINDSOR CHAIR MAKERS AND WOODWORKERS
We are still human and that will not change so to really convey a product we need to see it for ourselves up close. If it is something like a special box or furniture or a chair we need to get intimate with it and touch it, feel it, sit in it etc, etc. Since we make these items we ourselves know what the item looks and feels like and sometimes we take this for granted.
These articles by Peter Galbert take you on a journey, his journey. He did not easily become an overnight success. It took years of trial and error and on this journey he found some answers and shares this with us. It is a well thought out series of articles called (Letter to a Woodworker) if you are interested in what it takes please have a look. One of Petes philosophys is that information and knowledge is meant to be shared and passed on.
Another woodworker that also did this was Roy Underhill. Roy in his early years before television would go to fairs and craft shows to show not only his crafts but how he crafted these items.
Customers get to try out your product and see for themselves what it is really like. They get to experience you making the item just like going to Murano and watching them make glass. Why do you think they show you how they are crafting these items?
So, you get customer interaction, word of mouth advertising and repeat customers if you are good enough! If not you will improve.
