easy wood projects
While Im tapering the holes for the legs in my shavehorse bench I might as well make the the tapering plane. I found plans for one in Drew Langsners Chairmakers Workshop. I went to a lumber yard today that specializes in hardwoods and got a cut off block. I laid out the lines for the center hole. and drilled it with my brace and bit. Next I will use my tapered saw blade reamer to make the taper for the tapering plane. They will be a matched pair.
Maple block approximately 3"x3"x9"
Laid out the center mark to drill. Two inches from the end and the middle of the block.
3/4 inch bit.
Brace and bit starting the auger.
Keeping the bit going true.
Poked through the bottom.
Finish drilling hole through bottom for a clean un splintered hole.
Starting to taper the hole with my tapered saw reamer.
