easy wood projects
Some of us work where we can but if we had a choice we would have a shop. How large is up to you and probably depends on what you build but to start this 12x12 shop will fit in most yards and without pluming will not take that long to build. Here I get an area measured out and dig a trench for a timber frame foundation.. You could fill the center with bricks or cement but I used crushed rock and pavers locked in with sand. You could also make a hard packed dirt floor or even make a raised foundation with a wood floor. There are many floors and foundations to choose from. I got the idea for this small workshop from the book (Building a Shed) . I like the idea for a brick or paver floor because thats what I always see in Roy Underhills Woodwright Shop and when I looked into it this is how some floors were done in the 1800s and probably before that as well.
