The next steps put together the top working portion of the shavehorse. I cut a slot in the bench for the swing arm to slide through. Once the swing arm is fastened to the top portion of the shavehoirse it becomes a fulcrum. I cut the parts for the top and attached them to the bench along with cutting a slot in the top portion. The swing arm goes through both these slots and is operated by your legs while you are seated on the shavehorse..
