easy wood projects
I started tapering the leg holes in my shavinghorse with my tapered reamer. I needed to make a few adjustments to the depth of the cut that my reamer was making. It was starting to bind so I needed to make the blade less proud of the tapered wood. I sawed a slot a bit deeper in the handle to allow the blade to slide back. This worked ok but some other adjustments will be needed as I go further along. Also I need to make a couple of chairmakers bevels. These are close looking and functioning to the bevel that Im currently using but simpler to adjust and more stable when laid down. I will also need to make a tapering plane to cut the tenons on my legs. Im sure for the savehorse I could use a hatchet and or drawknife and spoke shave but I want to learn how to make a tapering plane so I will take my time and do it.
Checking the angle with my bevel but since this is a compound angle 2 bevels would be better. I plan on making a couple of chairmakers bevels soon.
Tapered reamer too aggressive and starting to bind. This is a way to adjust the blade so as not to be overly aggressive.
Tapered reamer coming through.
Further along.
