easy wood projects
This review is about the book titled "The Anarchists Tool Chest" but I have to add a bit more. I started reading the author Christopher Schwarz in Woodworking Magazine. It was the magazine he put together, the articles, the photography, the paper and the magazine formatting that made me want to pick up the magazine and read it. Then there was his personal writings in the magazine, it made me want to put tools to wood and make the projects he wrote about. When I made the projects he wrote about they were beautiful and satisfying to make. The one thing that stands out is his genuine love of woodworking and the quality he strives for in everything he does including his writing and publishing.
In The Anarchists Tool Chest we see the same level of detail and quality given to tools and of course the English style tool chest that is a project in the book but theres more. Chris really goes into detail about hand tools, how to use them what appliances are used and when enough is enough, tools that is.
What do we really need as far as hand tools to create something. The quality of older hand tools, how to choose and restore them.
There is the English style tool chest to build and several other projects along the way that are useful for doing wood working like saw benches, bench hooks and shooting boards but what I take away from this book is how to work with wood in a satisfying and successful way.
All in all this is a great book and once you start reading it, it is hard to put down and a must read for the hand tool enthusiast.
