On the second coat of finish I got fish eye or something along those lines on the ends of my panels. It could have been several things that caused this so I eliminated what I thought were likely causes, sanded a whole bunch and applied a few coats of Minwax wipe on poly. The wipe on poly is much thinner than the polyurethane I was using and it is nice to rub on. I did have to apply more coats than I would have normally but it worked fine. I also cut an angle on the bottom of the legs with my old cabinet makers saw. The saw is a Disston that is about 20 or so inches long, The handle a well worn apple wood is so comfortable to hold and the blade is nice and sharp but smooth as silk. It is a true pleasure to saw with this saw. I also started the glue up of this night stand/ side table. Before I glued though I sanded all the parts. This will save time and effort.

Wipe on poly worked out OK. Goes on much thinner than regular. Dries quickly and ready to sand in about 3 hrs. I cant really say how many coats you would need, it all depends on the wood. I got it to really shine in about 3 coats. Before the final coat I used 0000 steel wool.

This saw is got to be one of the most comfortable saws I have ever used. I could saw all day long with this one.

If you get a chance sand the pieces before you glue them up. You will be able to get in places that are a challenge once the piece is glued up.

Stone Imperial Russian Stout Limited Release. Its like drinking a dark chocolate flavored coffee but with a bitter punch. It is 11% alcohol and it hits you like an earthquake after the first pint. Not a shaker but definitely a long roller.
