easy wood projects - My Dutch Tool Chest

easy wood projects

I recently had the opportunity to travel up to Port Townsend and take woodworking classes and needed a good way to both safely transport my tools and have them organised for my classes. I decided to build a Dutch tool chest. I built it out of pine because it was light and sturdy. It may end up tweaked a bit here and there but I can tell it will out last me. It holds plenty of tools and is light enough to carry from my vehicle to most any destination. Set it down, open the lid and you are ready to grab tools and start work.

There are many good points to this tool chest but the main points are:

  • It keeps your tools cleaner
  • It keeps your tools organized
  • It saves the edges on your tools
  • You have a way to lock up your tools at the end of the night if you choose to do so
  • Its a great conversation starter / ice breaker
