Next I roughed out the spoon blank. You can use many different methods to do this including a knife, chisel, band saw rip saw, bow saw, axe, etc, etc. There are some operations you may want to do with any of the methods you choose and these are to cut a couple of relief cuts on either side of the spoon between the bowl and handle. This is to prevent you from accidentally taking out the bowl while removing the waste from the handle.

I used 2 methods to remove the waste from the handle. One was a rip saw and the other was first to saw perpendicular to the handle and chisel out the waste. Both worked equally well. Its always good to have an extra method to try in certain situations.
Do yourself a favor and make a couple of relief cuts on either side of the handle to prevent you from cutting off the bowl.

Matching up the template to see how things went. I used a coping saw to remove the rest of the waste from the bowl and handle.
Profile is very close and not much wood left. I will need to draw this and follow it on both sides.
