The next step was to sheath the roof with plywood. This added extra strength to the whole structure and gave the asphalt shingles a better surface to be nailed on to. Everything on the roof is nailed using either galvanized nails for the sheathing and galvanized roofing nails for the shingles. The pitch on the roof for this structure was steep. You can tell right away there will be no standing water and snow will also slide right off, probably. It was hard to stand on and sheath and roof. I added a layer of roofing felt as well even though the plans did not call for it. The top of the roof is vented and I installed the roof foam material vent under the roof top cap shingles. The eves also were vented. I used 1/2"  exterior plywood to sheath the roof. For the shingles I picked a color I thought went well with the ceder stain. I think black would have been good as well. I chose 4 tab architectural style shingles to give it an extra nice look.

Roof sheathing complete. I used a ladder to help me stay on the roof due to the steep pitch.

I had an assistant help me with the roof felt.

I used a ladder to nail in the shingles since the pitch of the roof was so steep.

All complete you can see the roof vent material  installed on the very top.

A couple views of the finished roof.

What the roof vent material looks like from inside before adding shingles.
