Today I assembled the rest of my night stand. The ship lapped back and top were screwed on to allow for wood movement. The panels inside the frames can expand and contract as well. It is summer here on the West Coast but I live near the Pacific Ocean and there is quite a lot of moisture in the air. Then there are those days that are hot and dry everything up, the wood shrinks. Then when it rains it is really wet around here and the wood swells and expands.
Drilled the pilot holes for my screws with a hand drill and fluted bit.
Chamfered the holes so that the screws would sit flush.
Stands out when you walk into the room.
