easy wood projects
Next up I decided to make a carving knife and continue with my wooden spoon making. I am learning both how to carve a wooden spoon and carve a knife handle. They are both in flux. I carve the knife handle a bit here and there as I am carving spoon. Same goes for the knife blade. It is not a recommended blade but just from an old knife I had laying around. Im finding that the steel is a bit brittle but so far it is working and the profile is slowly evolving. I will probably make some more knives as time goes on. Currently Im working on the spoon profile. Some of it is still roughing out and it is not a perfect spoon blank so its like traveling on a journey to see what I end up with. I have an image of a Wille Sundqvist style spoon like these on Peter Galberts Blog (Wille Sundqvist Style Spoon) but only time will tell. In the mean time keep carving.

Keep your stone and grinder handy while carving. A sharp knife with a good carving profile makes things go better.
